1078.0. "Housekeeping with secure account" by MERIDN::GOLDSTEIN (A1%OA-I-CNFSD, OA$CONFUSED) Mon Jul 20 1992 15:31

    Hi,

    I have a customer that has a very secure ALL-IN-1 account on their
    system. It's so secure in fact, that they keep the account on a
    removable disk drive that is only mounted when the person requires
    access.

    My problem is that I can't seem to run some of my housekeeping
    procedures successfully. Specifically when I run TRM, I get the
    error "User SECURE logged in, account not processed. This
    error also caused by an invalid account directory".

    I have the account set to NOMAIL, and am not concerned about records in
    PENDING.DAT, since they only use this account to store classified
    documents. I tried creating a new shared area (SHARA), putting this
    account in the area, then ran TRM excluding shared area SHARA.
    Although I did not run successfully, I did get past Phase II.

    Does anyone have any ideas how I can successfully run their
    housekeeping without mounting this disk?

    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Rob,

    Creating a 'shadow' ALL-IN-1 directory structure for this account which
    contains an empty DOCDB.DAT and DAF.DAT would seem the best approach.

    Change the directory to include a logical which gets changed when the
    secure disk is mounted.

    Hope this helps,
    don

    Hi Don,

    I'll give it a shot. I thought of something similar to this, but it
    more involved. This sounds nice and simple.

    I'll let you know how it works.

    Thanks,

1078.3A note of warningIOSG::MAURICECeci n'est pas une noteMon Jul 20 1992 19:1511
    If you do this and if the secure user has references to shared mail
    messages and/or attachments then the system will calculate the usage
    counts on these incorrectly, with a subsequent risk if loss of data.

    If on the other hand this secure user has only private documents then
    all will be well. If this is not the case then consider seperating the
    user account into two (drawers in V3.0, File Cabinets in V2.n).

    Cheers
