1010.0. "AWD option upgrade" by SWTHOM::GODARD () Wed Jul 08 1992 15:43

Can anybody tell me if the AWD option VMSINSTALL works fine for the
    ALL-IN-1 V3.0 installation.

I've seen that this option cannot be used for the WPS-PLUS v4.0 for
    ALL-IN-1 V2.4 installation ( Revised Cover Letter For WPS-PLUS V4.0
    Option For ALL-IN-1 V2.4)

    Thanks

System Disk Space Check Performed On System Disk EVEN When AWD Option
    Used

    OVERVIEW:

The VMSinstal Utility provides an option to specify an alternate
working disk to be used in place of the system disk during an installation.
This option is invoked using the syntax:

     VMSINSTAL OPTIONS AWD ....

    PROBLEM:

When performing an installation of ALL-IN-1 V3.0 and specifying an
alternate working disk, the disk space checks for the required space
on the system disk are NOT performed on the alternate disk specified
but rather on the system disk.

Depending upon the amount of available free space on the system disk,
the installation of ALL-IN-1 may be performed in NON-SAFETY mode or
will fail due to insufficient disk space even though the alternate
disk specified has enough free space to perform the installation in
    SAFETY mode.

     CAUSE:

This is a problem with the VMSINSTAL utility and the AWD option.
Even though an alternate disk is specified, the checks for disk
space are still preformed on the system disk, and the installation
will proceed based on this information.

    SOLUTION:

If you choose to use the alternate working disk (AWD) VMSINSTAL
option, you must still have the minimum amount of free space
required for ALL-IN-1 on the system disk to install ALL-IN-1 V3.0.

The minimum system disk space requirements for the installation
of ALL-IN-1 V3.0 (even if the AWD option is used) are as follows:

                             Safety Mode Non-Safety Mode
