Hello !! A customer use VT420 terminals and on certain of those i had connected a LA75 printer as printer port. It works without problem eccept if the the printer is OFFLINE, in this case when he try print to the printer port the file is printed on the terminal witch is normal, but the result is that th terminal is set in is setup in 1x72 lines in place of 3x24 lines, and ALL-IN-1 does not support more than 24 lines per scren. This means that the terminal VT420 execute the initialisation escape sequences sended to the printer ??? I would like to know if this is correct and if there is a workaround or what can i say to the customer. ALL-IN-1 v2.4 I tested it in ALL-IN-1 v3.0 the problem is the same. Thank you for your help. David, I think there used to be more checks to see if the user had a printer attached. But the check was made by doing a $SET TERM/INQUIRE, then looking at the value of PORT in VMS. Unfortunately, if a user didn't have the printer turned on when they logged in, it didn't work. If the text goes to the terminal when the printer is turned off, then I think it is reasonable to expect that the "escape" sequences will too." You might look into customizing. ALL-IN-1 has some sort of OA$TRM_INQUIRE function, which I've never been able to get to work. But you could probably use it to verify that there is a printer each time the user prints a document. You might also just send the sequences which reset the number of lines on the terminal after each job prints. ALL-IN-1 will generally support more than 24 lines in V2.4, although not in WPS-PLUS V3.1. In V2.3, there is less support, but some things work. Ben | |||||

Ben, Thank you for your info, I told those thinks to the customer and we talked about using specific printer table like LA75_port_vt420.pra with a termination sequence into it. Thank you again for your help. Regards David |
