988.0. "Script symbiont won't start" by COPCLU::COPLE4::GLARGAARD (Allan Glargaard, Copenhagen LEG) Mon Jul 06 1992 12:12

Hi!

  I upgraded my ALL-IN-1 V2.4/US installation to V3.0 a while ago,
  and have not yet succeeded in getting the script symbiont up and
  running.

  I'm running VMS A5.5 if that matters.

  During @SYS$STARTUP:A1V30START I get the following messages:
          Starting ALL-IN-1
   Installing ALL-IN-1 images
          Defining language independent logical names
  $ define /exec /nolog /table=lnm$system_table oa$mti_trns
  %DCL-W-INSFPRM, missing command parameters - supply all required parameters

  I've tried creating the OA$SMB.COM in SYS$SYSTEM but I don't think
  the START/QUE even gets this far.

  Any hints?

  Best regards,
  Allan Glargaard

  PS The OA$MTI_TRNS error is probably because I didn't get my
  interface to the Message Router right, but I'm fixing that now...

988.1De-install OA$SCRIPT_SYMBIONT imageXLII::FDONOHUEMon Jul 06 1992 14:4113
    Allan,

     Refer back to notes # 883.*, it says on VMS 5.5A to de-install
    OA$SCRIPT_SYMBIONT and then re-init queue.

    I don't think that this is a general problem on systems that don't
    have VMS A5.5. Or at least I haven't heard anyone screaming too
    loud about it.

    Good luck,

    Faith Donohue

988.2INSTALL REMOVE ...OA$SCRIPT_SYMBIONT worked, thanksCOPCLU::COPLE4::GLARGAARDAllan Glargaard, Copenhagen LEGMon Jul 06 1992 15:4311
    1) Delete any OA$SCRIPT* queues
    2) INSTALL REMOVE SYS$SYSTEM:OA$SCRIPT_SYMBIONT
    3) @OA$LIB:SCRIPT_QUEUE_INIT ENGLISH
    4) @OA$LIB:SCRIPT_QUEUE_ALL START

    This did it, as (almost) stated in 883.*. I did actually find this note
    earlier, but somehow I managed to think it was not relevant at all.

    Hoping for the best...

    Allan

988.3Just in case...BERN03::MUELLERSStefan A Mueller 761-4864Wed Jun 16 1993 19:285
If someone has the same problem and can't solve it as described in earlier
replies, try to reboot the system first. In one of my cases it has been
necessary.
