964.1 | DCA/RFT DSAB solved this problem | ACUMEN::VICKERS | Rearranging the DEChairs | Tue Jun 30 1992 20:56 | 10 |
| There used to be a DSAB in the old non improved ASSETS library which
supported DCA/RFT documents. I believe that it is still available in
the European ASSETS library.
I also believe that KeyPak has some rudimentary support for DCA/RFT
document conversion. I'm not sure whether this would be ideal for what
your customer requires.
Good luck,

964.2 | What's in the list? | LARVAE::JORDAN | Chris Jordan, TSE - Technology Services, End-User Computing | Wed Jul 01 1992 12:29 | 6 |
| If you tell us what is in your list (approximately) we might be able to
tell if they are added as a "customisation" or as a product (DESKtop
for DOS??, TeamLinks??) or as a third party (Keypak??, WordPerfect??).
Cheers, Chris

964.3 | Handling -- FORMAT master records | SHALOT::NICODEM | Avoid traffic; leave work at noon | Wed Jul 01 1992 17:13 | 12 |
| To answer the original question (concerning the Handling types),
ALL-IN-1 comes with a number of records in the FORMAT data base. These are the
records that are seen when you do a Find on the Handling field. However, like
everything else in ALL-IN-1, you can customize, add, and expand what's already
there. Just for comparison, I took a look at our system here in the office, and
there are 120 entries in the FORMAT master file! A number of these are ones
that we have tailored ourselves.
So seeing differences in the Handling records from site to site is very
common.

964.4 | thanks | AUNTB::JUDD | aka beej | Wed Jul 01 1992 18:24 | 14 |
| Thanks. The DCA/RFT asset was retired prior to v2.4. However, I
have used it with v2.4 systems and it works fine (just was never
officially tested). My current thinking is to use this asset on
the customer's 2.4 system, get the documents converted and then
upgrade to v3.0.
Like .3, our internal system has hundreds of format types under
HANDLING, like IBM DCA-RFT, MASS-11, MS Word, NAVY DIF, WANG PC,
Samna Word, etc. So you're saying that these have been added by
our IS folkes?
thanks,

964.5 | FYI | SHALOT::TROTTA | Still here | Wed Jul 01 1992 21:24 | 7 |
| It's been a LONG time, but I seem to remember that the DCA/RFT ASSET
kit supplied a modified OAET and OAGBL. So if you install the V2.3 kit
on a V2.4 system, you'll most certainly be messing up some other things
even though the DCA/RFT handler might work just fine. E.g., the V2.3
OAET wouldn't provide support for DDIF, DTIF, DOTS, and PS.

964.6 | Remove it before v3.0 | AIMTEC::WICKS_A | DEC Mail Works for ME sometimes | Wed Jul 01 1992 21:54 | 12 |
| I think the "expert" up I-85 had some good ideas and I'd ordered the
DCA/RFT thingy this morning to take a look at what it changed but it
didn't get here - according to VTX it IS certified to run on ALL-IN-1 v2.4
Whatever you do make sure the Asset isn't there when the customer goes
to v3.0 as we've already had some "FUN" with customers trying to
run other 'deceased assets' such as OASTRING and OATPU against
the latest and greatest ALL-IN-1.
