Hi, I'm trying to use both MAILworks and IOS mail(V2.4). I sent a MAILworks mail whitch was attached one file written by MS-WORD on PC to IOS mail user. IOS mail user opened that, but couldn't read attached file. Next he saved attached file in other folder. He typed "FULLDB" function. Handring : MS WORD ^^^^^^^^ Against expectation, "Handling attribute" of this file was "MS WORD". Of course, I expected this field would be spaces. There isn't "MS WORD" in Format Master File. Why was this file added the "Handring attribute" of "MS WORD" ? Are there any protocols for handling between MAILworks and IOSmail ? If the other applications can do the same thing, I can propose to use both MAILworks and IOSmail on the same system at the same time. Please teach me. P.S. I wrote about this in WINDOWS_OFFICES note.

961.1 | KeyPak may be of use | MSORAO::VICKERS | Rearranging the DEChairs | Tue Jun 30 1992 04:06 | 15 |
I am not sure but I BELIEVE that KeyPak can add a Handling for MS WORD to ALL-IN-1 IOS. I believe that this one way to effect the linkage between MAILworks and ALL-IN-1 IOS in the environment which you describe. You might want to check the KeyPak conference if no one else can give a better idea here. The conference is at NUTMEG::KEYPAK. This probably means that it is mostly marketing information but someone there might be helpful. I'll add a pointer to this reply so you can press SELECT or KP7 to add the KeyPak to your notebook. Have fun, don
961.2 | Anyone added ? | TKOV51::TANAKA | Tue Jun 30 1992 11:25 | 13
Hi, In order to read MS WORD file, I understood I need to use KeyPak. But I don't understand who added "Handring Attribute" for MS WORD File. Message Router ? Fetcher ? MAILworks ? If I use the other applications such as ICHITARO which support only Japanese, can I get the same result as I use MS WORD file ? Teach me again. Regards, Yumie
961.3 | MAILworks....I think | IOSG::TALLETT | Arranging bits for a living... | Tue Jun 30 1992 12:16 | 9 |
I think you will find that it was MAILworks that put MS WORD in the handling attribute. I don't know for certain, but that seems to be the only software in the chain that actually KNOWS its MS Word format. It does this so that it knows what the format is when you try and process the message later. Regards, Paul |
