G'day, When an ALL-IN-1 Manager wants to give a set of default permanent symbols as a default to newly created accounts he has to update the SYMBOL.PST, stored in DISK:[ALLIN1.LIB_SHARE.USER]. The manager has to do one of the following 1. Set default to DISK:[ALLIN1.LIB_SHARE.USER] and edit the symbols.pst and convert it back to an indexed file. 2. Copy over the symbol table to an ALL-IN-1 account and write the symbols into the SYMBOL.PST and update it. Edit out the bits that are not required such as FULLNAME, PARSED_USER_NAME etc. Then convert the file back to an index file. I would like to see an option on the system managers menu that would allow the customer to update SYMBOL.PST. Sunil

Actually, all you have to do is create an ENTRY form which maps to the DISK:[ALLIN1.LIB_SHARE.USER]SYMBOL.PST. Then you can add and remove symbols to your heart's content. Someone once posted the format several years ago, but it shouldn't take more than a few minutes to figure out using the FDL file used to convert it back to indexed format. Ben | |||||

RE .3, Yes customers can create an ENTRY form and do what is suggested. I had a customer on the phone at the CSC and I made this suggestion and the one's in note .0. The creation of an ENTRY form was too difficult for him !!! It's fun being at the CSC it makes you wonder how people got to where they have. It's only a suggestion I just thought it could be helpful to customer's. Sunil |
