937.0. "Can V2.4 copy distribution lists?" by KAOFS::D_STREET () Thu Jun 25 1992 22:08

    Hello,
I have a client who would like to copy a mail distribution list from
one node to another. I wonder if this is even possible, and if so, how
would you do it. (they are running V2.4 of ALL-IN-1, if were V3.0 it
    would be easy!!)

I seem to be seeing the question rather frequently lately!

If it's a System Distribution list, go to the DL menu, and do a COpy
    to a local distribution list.

Since this is now in the DISTRIBUTION LISTS folder, mail it as an
attachment to whatever person/node you want.

Have the receiver detach the document into the folder DISTRIBUTION
    LISTS.

If you want to make it a System Distribution List again, you'll have to
go to the ADM menu and I seem to recall the option is MDL to use a COpy
and make it a System Distribution List.

I haven't done this in a while, but that's the general idea.
Under V2.4, does anyone have a better method?

.1 describes the method I always use. Of course, you could get into copy
the file over, but this method is clear enough.

NOTE: That copying it over does not correct any addressing issues!
You will have to hand validate that all of the addresses in the
distribution list are still valid once moving it to the other node.
