882.0. "Shared Folder Problems ...." by ZPOVC::CHIKLIAK () Wed Jun 17 1992 13:06

Hello,

Need some advise/clue why this is happening.

Allin1 V2.4

Description Of Setup :
====================

The customer uses the shared folder concept as a "Bulletin Board". This means
user can access other's shared folder, including MANAGER shared folder.

Steps Of Setup (example) :-
========================

 1) Manager creates a shared folder [NEWS] from "WP".
 2) Under [NEWS] folder there will be a number of messages.
 3) The user can access the shared folder of MANAGER from "EM" by selecting.
 4) Once selected, the user performed an "I" (index) of the shared folder.
 5) The user should see an index of the shared folder [NEWS].

Problems :-
========

 A) The user can select the shared folder as in step (3) above. The problems
    occurs when an "I" (index) was performed. The user gets a message "This
    File Cabinet Need More Information". This occurs randomly.

 B) When the same user tries to read the file from the selected shared folder,
    s(he) will only be ready their text/messages and not from the shared
    folder.

 C) The funny thing is that if the user gets this message and F10's to get back
    to "EM" screen and then repeat step (3) to (5), everything will be fine.
    The user will not get a message as in (A), and s(he) will be able to read
    and access the [NEWS] shared folder.

Questions :-
=========

 Q1) What does "This File Cabinet Need More Information" means?

 Q2) This looks like indexing problem, but why is this happening and can be
     workaround by following step (C).

 Q3) Is there anything can be done?

 Q4) Any ideas?

Thanks in advance...

    This is a known problem that is fixed by patch K603.
