Okay, so if it is WPS-PLUS V4.1 that ships with ALL-IN-1 V3.0...
Is this the US ENGLISH or BRITISH ENGLISH version of WPS_PLUS? If it's
the US ENGLISH version only, when will the BRITISH ENGLISH version
ship with it?

| Out of curiosity...
At Macy's West, they are interested in upgrading to ALL-IN-1 V2.4-1.
During a call to Atlanta (about the need for a new PAK for the upgraded
version), the support person was unaware of a version 2.4-1.
We are planning the upgrade for June 20th and are planning to use the
March 92 CD (which says it has ALL-IN-1 V2.4 in it).
How can I tell if this is the version I want to install? They do want
WPS-PLUS V4.0 included in the package.
Thanks all...

| Dan,
if you look back in the archived conference you'll see that it wasn't
just Atlanta that were confused by the patch numbering scheme for v2.4
but even Engineering - we had v2.4A, B, C, D etc ..., the K601 ...K605
series, the V4 Option Kit and most recently a W patch.
I don't have a CD player handy but my vague recollection is that the
March CD had v2.4 + K603 (aka A1024SUS020) on it - perhaps if you tell
us what directories, savesets etc are in [.KITS] We can identify what's
there - you need OAWmumble for v4.

You have to install A1024 then do the patches A1024SUS020 and OAW024.
I'm not sure what A1024PAT021 is.

| Ben,
A1024PAT021 is K604 so Dan should be ok - thanks for checking.
The installation order is therefore
1) A1024
2) A1SUS020
3) A1PAT021
4) OAW024
actually you can do 3 and 4 the other way round.

| You should also skip relinking and recompiling the TXL and everything
like that whenever you get a chance. Actually, you can't skip much
when you install A1024, and you shouldn't anyway, but whenever it gives
you a choice, skip it until the end.

844.14 | Furtherings . . . | SANFAN::LESLIE_DA | Greetings & Solutions | Mon Jun 15 1992 05:18 | 32 |
| Thanks for the GREAT response here (and I'm glad some of it came from
someone in Atlanta ;*).
Anyway..., the customer is concerned about several things with this
upgrade...
1. Downtime, they are concerned about being down for a weekend while
the installation is taking place.
2. WPS-PLUS V4.0 testing would be desired to make sure that several of
their UDPs won't break (they build WPS-PLUS control blocks with
UDPs).
It appears then, that as a miniumum we should install A1024 kit (base
ALL-IN-1 V2.4.
Is it necessary to install the other 3 parts as well? They'd like to
try out WPS-PLUS 4.0 before installing it for everyone, but they are
not interested in parallel systems. What are the advantages/disadvantages
to leaving these patches for another time?
It appears to me that they can upgrade to WPS-PLUS V4.0 later without
too significant of preparation (outside of warning users and beefing up
training to the help desk (and training personnel)). Are these patches
required for WPS-PLUS V4.0 ONLY or are there repairs to other parts of
ALL-IN-1?
I.e., the customer is NOT interested in upgrading to WPS-PLUS at this
time. What *should* be installed?
Thanks for all the help (so far)...

844.15 | Quick? | AIMTEC::WICKS_A | DEC Mail Works for ME sometimes | Mon Jun 15 1992 17:01 | 16 |
| Dan,
... and this was supposed to be a quickie???
Anything that's a K patch fixes bits of ALL-IN-1 that don't work
you know Sender/Fetcher, Archiving, FCVR, Housekeeping etc...
You should install K603 aka A1024SUS020 - it fixes quite a few things
but it'll take you an hour or two.
Both the WPS-PLUS v4 thingy and K604 (A1PAT021) require K603 installed
so you can do both/either of these later.

Andrew.D.Wicks
