Hello, I need to get back to the customer as soon as poosible, preferably before 3:00 today, so any help would be appreciated. He has two queries: o How much extra disk space will the migration use up, when the script has been run. o Very roughly how long will it take to run. I appreciate that the above will be only a very rough guide. Basically he has 23,000 blocks of space left and is worried that it will not be enough... Thanks In Advance, Richard Simpson (SSC).

Unfortunately the SFCP migration developer has himself migrated (temporarily) to Ireland. Amazing the power of ALL-IN-1 scripts! I don't think it will take extra disk space unless you have very long lists of sharers, in which case the ACLs applied to the documents may have an impact. Early testing indicated a rate of about 100 documents a minute. I don't have any data from real migrations. Cheers Stuart | |||||

Stuart, You mean 100 documents a minute once it has worked out how to convert the shared-file cabinet to the shared drawer since that can take a minute or two itself... and probably a little more diskspace to store the shared drawer over and above the space for the ACLs because you have the extra .DAT and .DIR files. 23K blocks sounds ok providing the installation isn't adding other files (system or user) to the same disk also. So give it a couple of hours and of course don't forget to check the log. Regards, Andrew.D.Wicks (who witnessed the first real SFCP migration and lived!) |
