797.0. "distribution list mail goes twice" by KAOFS::D_STREET () Wed Jun 03 1992 22:33
Hello,
I have a customer who is running ALL-IN-1 V2.3 without patches,
and they have an odd problem with their mail. When they send out
a message to a distribution list, the same mail gets sent out about
month later to the same distribution list, but with one of the
recipiants as the sender. I have seen information saying that this
could happen if one of the recipiants has an auto-reply set or has
their mail forwarded. In these cases, the second mail happens right
away. In this case there is a long time delay between the original
message and the unwanted one.
Is there any explaination for this??

| The easiest explanation I can think of is that the recipient has copied the
message (MCD) and then resent it. This would have the effect you describe. Are
there any applications which use MCD? If they (or the user) has accidenatlly
selected the wrong message to copy . . .
