COMPONENT: ALL-IN-1 CLASSIC OP/SYS: VMS
SOURCE: Customer Support Center/Atlanta USA
SYMPTOM:
A user creates an event with attendees.
The user then goes back to the event and adds additional attendees.
The user then edits that event.
If he edits the event, before the attendees have read their mail, the
attendees receive the first message with the original date and time
of the event, however they do not get another "rescheduling" message.
This has been duplicated.
WORKAROUND:
VERSION INFORMATION:

\ Resolution description
\
\ Thank you for your SPR.
\
\ You describe a problem in Time Management where a user creates an event
\ with attendees and then subsequently adds more attendees and edits the
\ event. If attendees have not read the TM request before the event is
\ edited they do not receive the rescheduled meeting details.
\
\ This problem is a restriction in ALL-IN-1 V 2.4.
\
\ When using TM it is important that requests and updates are read in
\ sequence in order to avoid corruptions in the files. If an attendee reads
\ the changed event before reading the original TM notice, for instance, his
\ calendar will record the original event, and not the change. Thus it may
\ appear that he did not receive the rescheduling message.
\
\ We thank you for your interest in and use of ALL-IN-1.
\
\ ******************************* FOR INTERNAL EYES ONLY************************
\ \* This problem is not so severe in ALL-IN-1 V 3.0 but there are still
\ \* difficulties if the messages are not read in sequence

| The problem described in the STARS article is similar in that no doubt the
attendee was unable to reply before the second mail announcing the modification
was sent, and I have no way of knowing which one he read and answered first.
However, the results are entirely different. At our customer site, the original
event is no longer present in the schedulers calendar and the attendee has TWO
discrete events in his calendar (with the original scheduler).
The manager called today and said that another user scheduled a meeting and she
was notified that notification has been sent, but NONE of the expected
attendees received any event notification. I don't know if this problem and the
original problem are in any way connected.
I will be making another on-site visit tomorrow late afternoon.
Any ideas/suggestions/etc. are graciously appreciated.
Thanks,
Cb.
