758.0. "Licencing question - per user/ per process" by BIS6::BIDONNET () Wed May 27 1992 15:06

    Is licencing based per user or per process? (we have a need for each
    user to be into ALL-IN-1 twice)

    Thanks,

758.1Per USERIOSG::TALLETTGosh, it just gets a worse mess!Wed May 27 1992 22:2919

    	Per USER. Each user can run have as many ALL-IN-1 images as he
    	likes. You are supposed to add a /RESERVE_LIST="FRED,JOE,BILL"
    	onto the personal license to enforce it (this is an LMF V1.1
    	feature, which comes as standard on VMS V5.5, or you can get
    	a kit for V5.2 through V5.4-x). FRED, JOE and BILL are the VMS
    	usernames for the processes that are authorised to run the image.

    	This is ALL-IN-1 V3.0 I am talking here, I'd need to think a bit
    	harder how it was in V2.4, but I seem to remember that there was
    	a bug in V2.4 which broke the enforcement of personal licenses
    	anyhow.

    	Of course, capacity licenses are per SYSTEM, and not per user or
    	process, I take it you were talking about Personal (Use)
    	Licenses...

    Regards,
    Paul
