707.0. "GPC: Illegal String when modifying Note ID" by GIDDAY::SETHI (Man from Downunder) Tue May 19 1992 07:12

    Hi Chaps and Ladies,

    Custonmer has ALL-IN-1 2.4

    GPC a Moderator tries to modify a number of note ID's this works
    successfully (ie note 10 id changed to 9 or what ever).

    If the customer has many notes to change they get an error message
    "Illegal string". The customer has to logout then login to carry on
    modifying note ID's. Is this a know problem I could no find anything
    in Stars.

    Thanks

    Sunil

707.1VAX Notes bugSIOG::T_REDMONDThoughts of an Idle MindTue May 19 1992 12:266
    GAP says it's a bug in VAX Notes. I guess that he must do this a lot ;)

    We use VAX Notes and inherit their bugs (features). Time for an SPR
    against VAX Notes?

    More detail of Tony's cryptic reply...

    It's "well known" that doing SET NOTE/NOTE_ID= form the TPU interface
    should only be done once, then you should select another couple of
    notes.

    There's lots of discussion about this in the VAXNOTES notesfile. I'm
    assuming that this bug is in the underlying Notes code, and we're
    seeing it through our use of the callable interface.

    Graham

    PS Others don't seem to have got this fixed, but you could try again I
    suppose!
707.3SPR it ?GIDDAY::SETHIMan from DownunderWed May 20 1992 01:458
    G'day,

    Thanks for confirming that it's a known problem (misfeature DEC word
    for it).

    Do you want me to submit a SPR ?

    Sunil
707.4As long as the SPR isn't against ALL-IN-1 I don't care :-)IOSG::PYEGraham - ALL-IN-1 Sorcerer's ApprenticeWed May 20 1992 13:420
