Subject: Name Change for ALL-IN-1 MAIL

Please forward this memo to the widest possible distribution.

The Messaging Program has decided to change the name of the ALL-IN-1 MAIL
product set to DEC MAILworks (tm). This change has been encouraged by our
field personnel and customers due to the confusion of ALL-IN-1 MAIL with
ALL-IN-1 Integrated Office System. Feedback from those customers who have been
told of this name has been positive. This name change will take place
gradually, as new releases of the current product are distributed. New
products will be named DEC MAILworks at introduction. The public
announcement will take place on June 10, 1992 at the European Electronic
Mail Association meeting in Paris, and on June 15, 1992, at the U.S. EMA
meeting in Dallas. The Sales Update for this will appear in the June 15th
issue, along with the announcement of the MAILbus 400 (tm) product set.

We are beginning to change literature as it is being updated. SPDs will
change at the next release, and product documentation will still use the name
ALL-IN-1 MAIL until the product submits a major release with documentation
changes. A cover letter will be added to the media and doc kits explaining
the name change to customers.

If you have any questions, please call either of us.

Regards

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The MAILbus 400 Product Set refers to the CCITT 1988 X.400 Message
Transfer Agent and SMTP/X.400 Gateway that have been program announced
as part of Advantage Networks (a.k.a. DECnet/OSI Phase V). Subsequent
corporate reorganization has removed the Mail Program from the Networks
Group. The X.500 announcement will occur at a later date, this product
remains the responsibility of the Networks Group.

Does this mean that ALL-IN-1 and ALL-IN-1 MAIL will not be "merging"
their mail systems in the future??

Perhaps the question in -1 is more appropriate in A1INFO?
