682.0. "authorized programmer" by WR1FOR::STEINBENA (Natasha, go get Moose & Squirrel) Wed May 13 1992 18:33

We just installed V3.0 and I am trying to set myself up as an
ALL-IN-1 programmer. I set the APP priv. to P in my profile
and most other privs to Y. I can bring up the CM menu but
when I try to create an element, I get a

"You do not have write access to this area"

    message.

I go into the ALL-IN-1 managers account and entry AP MAP and enter
my name in the user field and entry Y in the Read Access and Write
Access fields and I get a

    	"No authorized programmers found"

    message.

    In my sysuaf.dat I do have OA$PRVAPP .

What else do I need to do? Or, what am I doing wrong?
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Regards,
    Nancy Steinbeck

    Nancy,

When you get the Index form displayed you should at least have the
MANAGER defined as an authorized programmer in both ENGLISH and SHARE
then to add someone else you use the Create option (or press GOLD M)
and then fill in the details.

682.2Which AREA do you use?CESARE::EIJSAll in 1 PieceWed May 13 1992 19:5125

    Nancy,

The Message 'No authorized programmers found' will be displayed from AM
MAP if the AREA field contains a application area which doesn't have
any authorized programmers assigned yet. Normally if you select an
application area which doesn't have authorized programmers yet, the
AM MAP will show an empty AREA field.

If the AREA field is empty, but you enter an application area which
doesn't have authorized programmers yet, then the message appears.

Which application area is displayed in the field? If it is either SHARE
or (I presume) ENGLISH, then something might have gone wrong during the
installation as (as I just saw when Andrew beat me) the MANAGER should
have an entry. Check in the installation log for message which display a
CM message number in the range of CM049-CM081.

The way around this problem is to clear the AREA field before you press
RETURN. You will then be shown an index of all authorized programmers
for all application areas you are maintaining.

    Ciao,

    	Simon

Thank you for the help. When I brought up MANAGER as the programmer
(area was ENGLISH), then it did allow me to give myself
    access to the area.

It wasn't obvious to me how to do this nor could I find it spelled
    out in the documentation.

    Nancy,

Simon put it more eloquently than me but I did find an obtuse reference
to this activity in the Management Guide on page 20-3

    Andrew,

Yes, I saw the "obtuse reference" you mentioned. I now have
the word "index" highlighted and I added your instructions to my
    MG page 20-3.

    Thank you again,
    Nancy
