Has anyone any experience of using DECram with ALL-IN-1. My customer is considering using this with VAX 4000s for ALL-IN-1 instead of an ESE20 currently used with 6000s. Given that DECram is good for read-only could the ALL-IN-1 image be held in memory and thus speed up activation times? Richard Bell

I haven't any experience of using DECRAM but I would guess that puttng
the image on a DECRAM disk would not gain you much. This is because the
image is installed shared and it is probable that when sufficient
people are logged in, all the bits of the image that you want are in
       memory already.

I think OAFORM.FLB would be the best candidate for DECRAM. This file
cannot have global buffers so it takes quite a lot of I/Os. If you do
put this on a DECRAM disk then make sure that the size of the
default sequential multiblock count is low (for example 4). This will
result in more I/Os to OAFORM.FLB but less memory used by processes.
