Can someone please clear up some confusion for me. 1. It seems that if I create a mail message with WPS attributes (e.g. bold, underline) and then send that mail through the message router it looses those attributes. 2. If I mail a WP document with the same type of attributes then those attributes stay with the document. 3. If I forward a document like 1 from my outbox (so that it's an attachment) it looses the attributes. Just in case it's important, the value for OA$MTI_TRNS is 1 What is happening. I'm not necessarily asking for a "fix" I just want to understand what is happening. Jenny

>Just in case it's important, the value for OA$MTI_TRNS is 1 You've got it in one. Setting this to 1 means 'translate all non-ASCII mail messages and attachments of type MAIL to ASCII'. If you set the logical to 0, it will pass WPS-PLUS mail messages untouched. grahame
635.2 | Do you still need OA$MTI_TRNS = 1 ? | IOSG::SHOVE | Dave Shove -- REO-D/3C | Thu May 07 1992 13:10 | 12 |
Note that one of the reasons for setting OA$MTI_TRNS = 1 used to be that untranslated WPS-PLUS messages couldn't be sent to VMSmail addresses (via MrGate). With modern versions of MrGate this is no longer necessary, as MrGate knows how to translate WPS-PLUS to ASCII. (So does ALL-IN-1 MAIL, and various other "modern" mail products). You may still need OA$MTI_TRNS = 1 if you have some other wierd gateways though. Dave.

> You may still need OA$MTI_TRNS = 1 if you have some other wierd > gateways though. Yeah, I gather the reason it was set was for the TELEX gateway. I'm not citing this as a problem, just that I wanted to know what the characteristic was that caused this to happen, which .1 kindly clarify for me (thanks!) Jenny |
