570.0. "British Lexicon Dictionary?" by CGOOA::IUS (Donald V. Ius - DTN: 638-6927) Fri Apr 24 1992 19:21

    Hi,

    I have a customer who is running ALL-IN-1 V2.3. He is supposed to be
    usinge the British Lexicon dictionary, but all he has at the moment is
    the American Lexicon. He wants the British. Previous to this version
    of ALL-IN-1, I was able to take the appropriate file(s) from the
    British Lexicon kit and install that dictionary on their system. When
    they upgraded to V2.3, they lost it.

    He has contacted several people and has been getting the "royal
    run around". He has requested that I inquire to find out:

    1. How can he get the British Lexicon Dictionary for ALL-IN-1 V2.3?

    2. Is it just a matter of installing a "new" PAK? (It seems there must
    be more to it than this, they don't have a British Lexicon kit which
    they were supposed to get.)

    Thanks for any and all help.

    Don I.

570.1Ask in the spell check conference (sorry for more runaround!)IOSG::PYEGraham - ALL-IN-1 Sorcerer's ApprenticeMon Apr 27 1992 10:5113
    I've speculated about the answer to this in the previous version of the
    conference. I know that in theory a customer can order an additional
    lexicon kit (But since I'm in Engineering and we don't actually know
    what a customer is :-) ) I've never actually seen the kit.

    You might try asking in the linguistics / spell checking conferences
    pointed to in Note 4.* and see if they can give you a definitive
    answer.

    It's certainly possible, since we used to do it with V2.3 and V2.4
    before we upgraded to V3.0.

    The British Lexicon used to be on CD, at least in the US. We had a
    customer here in Washington with a similar problem. I just installed
    the kit and all worked well, but I don't remember if we needed a PAK;
    my recollection is that we didn't need one. But you definitely need to
    install the kit, then change all the users to the British lexicon. The
    two American and British lexicons coexist quite happily. I tested it
    out on my system before I went out there.

    I guess if you could find someone who saves old CD's in his desk
    drawer, particularly Consolidated Distribution Sept. 1990, you could
    install from that. You really are not supposed to use CD's this way,
    but the right thing may be to do it in this case, if you can determine
    that they are licensed for the product. The correct procedure would be
    to order the H kit. The product code on CD is VI7E.

Does anybody know where I might get my hands on the appropriate CD or H kit?

I cannot order it because I would get the wrong version, wouldn't I? I have
looked, and I think the correct product number I am after is QL-AAAE9-**. Is
this right? If not, does anybody know what it is?

Thanks for all your help.
