569.0. ""Archive" or copy WPS file to Serial Connected PC" by LAVGOD::ALLEN (I got free checking at BCCI) Fri Apr 24 1992 16:47

What product on the PC would I use (if any) that would allow me to
"archive" an A1 WPS file from the IOS file cabinent down to a PC hard
disk or floppy. Of course I'd like to retain the WPS+ format contents.
"Archive" doesn't have to be that sophisticated, all I'm really looking
for is a way to copy the WPS file down to the PC. Something that's
simple to use and knows about the IOS file cabinent is what we're
    looking for.

The PC would be serially connected to the network via LAT.

Try PATHWORKS - something like NFT - Network File Transfer - could do
    what you want.

Or TeamLinks - allows access to the ALL-IN-1 File Cabinet from inside a
    Windows-3 application.

Or many third party terminal emulators that also allow file transfer in
    them.

Or WPS-PLUS / DOS - allows Document Transfer into and out of the
    ALL-IN-1 File Cabinet.

It all depends on the sophistication of your users, and what they are
    really wanting to do...

Some application that allowed access to the IOS file cabinet is what I
was looking for. From your reply, it seems that I should be looking at
WPS+/DOS and Teamlinks. I'll look into the two products.

569.3Transfer ALL-in-1 DOCS to PC'sGUIDUK::OCTOPS::Roger-HairHello From the NorhtwestFri Sep 04 1992 23:0019
I also have a customer that would like a more direct method of transferring
documents between All-IN-1 ISO and a PC. Reflection (a terminal emulator)
does exactly what they what, however they are unable to use any third party
terminal emulator because of the application software in use.

They are also pathworks user, but to use pathworks requires to many steps.
What they would really like to do is from ALL-IN-1's "DT" menu select a
document and transfer it directly to the PC hard disk, while using PC terms
such as C:filename.xxx.

If anyone has developed anything like this in ALL-IN-1 I would be interested
in talking with you.

Thanks

Roger Hair

    Hi Roger,

There's a program called "DIRECT-TO-1" available from Walker Richer &
Quinn inc. This company also delivers Reflection.

The costs are about $ 500.00 per VAX-processor.

I've a customer who uses this programm for transfering WPS-PLUS files,
WP files, LOTUS 1-2-3 files, ASCII, ect. between PC and the ALL-IN-1
filecabinet. The users can stay in ALL-IN-1 and don't need to have access to
    DCL.

In ALL-IN-1 you can specify every valid DOS file specification .eg.
    C:\test.WPL or A:\WORDPERFECT\DOCUMENTS\PRINTER.WPC.

The program is available as a VMS saveset on floppy disk and has to be
uploaded to the VAX. After that you can use VMSINSTAL to install the
    program.

Send your address to me (SMEETS @UTO) and I'll send you a copy of the
    user and installation guide.
