A customer has a problem which I can't reproduce here: He creates a document with 68 lines, (top margin 4, text 63, bottom margin 1). Uses Gold N to make page break after 63 lines of text. This prints OK on his LN03. But when he reads it from WP menu, it makes one break after 61 lines of text, then comes line 62 and 63, then page break again. So this would seem to be a total of 66 lines incl margins. When I try this I always get the same output when reading as when printing. What could cause this difference for the customer? This problem does not seem so big, but when they start using headers and footers it looks worse on screen..... Thanks, Hans Westerback TSC, Stockholm

No ideas on what could make Read page length differ from Print page length? Hans

I cannot reproduce this problem either. I was using ALL-IN-1 V3.0 with WPS-PLUS V4.1. Are there any customizations to the WP Read option, or the WPLIST script? What happens if you run ALL-IN-1 with /NOCUSTOMIZE? Richard

OK, I think we have found the probelms (yes, two of them): 1) He had extra halflines between paragraphs. When Reading on screen these comes out as whole lines, which makes the page break earlier. 2) Remember this was ALL-IN-1 2.4 with WPS-PLUS 3.1. He had put a header control block on line 3 on first page, to get the header on pages 2-last. When Reading this shows up as extra blank lines between line 2 and 3. If you start the page with control block, no extra blank lines are inserted. This is fixed in WPS-PLUS 4.0. But another peculiar thing I noticed is that in 3.1, if you have no top margin in PG line 1 comes directly after start when reading. But in 4.0 there is always one blank line before line 1. This is when reading from WP. If you read the same document from EM there is no blank line. Hans |
