545.0. "Archiving - .ARCHIVE files in sub-dir?" by WAYOUT::LOAT (Bored....Bored....BORED!!!!) Wed Apr 22 1992 12:10
When running the ADS house-keeping job to archive the users files, a
customer saw a bit of a stramge thing happening.
As documents were archived, files kept appearing in the users ALL-IN-1
sub-directory, then disappearing.
These files were the {USERNAME}{NUMBER}.ARCHIVE files which then
appeared in the archive areas. These appeared, and then disappeared as
the documents were archived, so there was never more than one of these
files around?
Is this part of the ARCHIVE_DOCUMENT function which people never see?
Looking at the script which was running, I can't see anything which
would do this.
Any ideas?
Steve.

| I think your guess was correct for V2.4 systems, but in V3.0 these
.ARCHIVE files are created directly in the archive areas, thus
obviating a copy.
Cheers
