There appears to be a bug in KITINSTAL.COM for the WPS-PLUS V4 options 
installation.  The following command:

	$ VMSINSTALV51 = F$ELEMENT(1, ",", VMI$VMS_VERSION) .LES. "052"

looks like it should be using .LTS. rather than .LES. as an operator to check
the current VMS version.  Otherwise, it should be using 051 instead of 052.

It's documented in the release notes that the kit is not supported in VMS 
versions less than V5.2.

I have a customer who has run into this problem while trying to install the kit
on a VMS V5.2 system.

Has anyone run into this before?

    Yep we spotted this and QAR'd it against the v4 Option but it was shipped
    anyway.
    
    I guess you've figured out the other workaround (apart from editing
    KITINSTAL) which is to upgrade VMS (:==:)
    
    Chalk up another one for the "patch from hell"
