524.0. "direct DDS from profile prime" by NEWVAX::MAAS () Mon Apr 20 1992 16:40

    My customer wants to customize ALL-IN-1 to do the following.

    They are going to configure DDS with ALL-IN-1 using Profile Prime.
    However, they don't like having to go to SMD and SOM to search
    the mail directory. They would like ALL-IN-1 to go directly to
    the mail directory after doing the normal search sequence
    executed by having Profile Prime (nicknames, distribution lists,
    profile, network profile).

    They asked me if they could customize ALL-IN-1 to do this. Is
    this possible???? I'm not an ALL-IN-1 guru and don't know ALL-IN-1
    customization, so I don't know what's possible to customize and
    what isn't.

    Also, my concerns with this is that when you set OA$DDS_PRIME to 1 or 2
    and re-link, it links in different software modules. If they went with
    Profile Prime (oa$dds_prime = 1) and re-linked it may not link in the
    proper software modules for doing what they want to do.

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    Brenda,

    Ok to take your questions in reverse order...

    It is wrong to say that different software modules are linked in when
    OA$DDS_PRIME is set to 1 compared to OA$DDS_PRIME is set to 2.

    EXACTLY the *SAME* set of modules are linked.

    If OA$DDS_PRIME is set to 0 then the module OADDS is not linked but
    in all other configurations it is.

    hope that's clear (:==:)

    Alright now to the first question - I do not believe that it is easily
    possible to do what you are trying to do in versions of ALL-IN-1 prior
    to v3.0. There were some notes in the old conference that tried to
    do something like this but I don't how successful or similar they
    were.

    However ALL-IN-1 v3.0 (available from an SSB near you soon) does
    include this functionality if you can wait. The work is done at
    code-level in BLISS so it can't be retrofitted to v2.4 unfortunately.
