I am having a strange problem with printing to LA50 port printers off a CIT 101 terminal. System is a VAX 6000 cluster, VMS V5.4-3, ALL-IN-1 V2.4. WHen I print a document from ALL-IN-1 and print to PORT LA50, one page WPSplus documents print out just fine. However multiple page documents usually on the 2nd page : It will start to print out then I get a line of ? marks: ie ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? then I am taken back the menu prompt line on the ALL-IN-1 screen. I tried this from several CIT 101 terminals with LA50 port printers and this seems to be the case. ANY Ideas of what to look at or for to correct this problem? Reda

It sounds as if the terminal is sending data to the printer faster than the printer can handle it. After about one page the printer's buffer fills up which causes it print the ??????????s. Check that printer has XON/XOFF enabled, and the terminal settings for communicating with the printer also have this enabled. If the above does not work try reducing the baud speed used to for sending data from the terminal to the printer. Richard | |||||
