502.0. "Bold text prints plain" by RUNAWY::NTTDA::MENARD () Wed Apr 15 1992 22:10

A document created as a result of a MERGE operation contains some text
that has been embolded. When this document is READ, EDITed, or PRINTed to the
terminial, the embolded text is formatted correctly. When directed to any
printer, including LNO3 and LPS40, the highlighting characters are formatted as
plain text.

I am using ALL-IN-1 2.4 with the WPSPLUS editor.

Why?

Other documents do not exhibit this phenomenon. The printers do not seem to be
the problem.

Thanks,  RAM

    Hi,

    Hmmm. Is the document stored in your file-cabinet? Does it looks ok? Is
    the boilerplate an ASCII file or a WPS-PLUS file?

    Sjaak.
502.2Data type and Handling?IOSG::NEWLANDRichard Newland, IOSG, REO1-D/4AThu Apr 16 1992 12:129
Re: .0

What is the Data type and Handling of the document created by the MERGE
operation, which will determine how it is formatted during the print
operation?

502.3Handling needs to specifiedPOPE::NTTDA::MENARDThu Apr 16 1992 17:5612
re: .2 when I specified the handling as WPSPLUS by Updating the document index
manually, the formatting worked!

Problem now becomes -- how do I specify the handling characteristic of the
document created by the MERGE operation? Of course I can always write a SCRIPT
script to Update the document index, but that seems awkward. There's probably
a Cabinet Attribute I can set, but which one?

re:.1 the template is a wpl document.

The statement in the title of this reply sets the attribute correctly.

Thanks Richard for getting me thinking on the right track.
