481.0. "two questions about ALL-IN-1 on PC's" by YUPPY::DEWINTER (Chocolate?, Yeah!) Tue Apr 14 1992 09:14

    I'm sorry if these 2 following questions are silly, but I haven't got a
    clue in what to tell my customer, I don't even know where to go and
    look for it, so maybe somebody can help me in the right direction:

    1) ALL-IN-1 on the PC, is it possible to do any application programming
    on this? If so, where can I find information about it?

    2) If you run ALL-IN-1 on a PC, there seems to be a product/asset that
    can pull messages over even when the user is not actually logged in to
    the program, the only thing it needs is for the PC to be switched on?
    (at least that is what the customer says!) Does anybody know of a
    product like that?

    Thanks for any help.
    Regards,
    Arjen

481.1ALL-IN-1 DESKtop for DOSSHALOT::NICODEMWho told you I'm paranoid???Tue Apr 14 1992 17:0229
	To keep this discussion in the realm of sanity, I'll ass/u/me that by
"ALL-IN-1 on the PC" you're referring to the ALL-IN-1 DESKtop for DOS (as
opposed to PC ALL-IN-1, something we don't talk about except on bad days).

    1) ALL-IN-1 on the PC, is it possible to do any application programming
    on this? If so, where can I find information about it?

	As in the case of "Classic" ALL-IN-1 (a.k.a. ALL-IN-1 IOS), ALL-IN-1
DESKtop is implemented using a "scripting" language, combined with some generic
"menu processing". As a result, everything that runs under the DESKtop for DOS
is invoked (at least initially) using these "forms and scripts". As such, you
can certainly do additional application programming by creating your own menus,
your own scripts, etc. While the scripting language is not the same as on
ALL-IN-1 IOS, it is fairly simple to learn -- kind of BASIC-like.

	With DESKtop for DOS, you can choose to have your mail "stored" for you
in your ALL-IN-1 IOS mailbox (i.e., on the "server" VAX), or have it brought
directly to your PC. As you point out, the PC then needs to be "available" --
i.e., not a laptop that may often be disconnected.

	There is a Notes conference that directly deals with this separate
product; you might want to look through there for more detailed questions and
answers.
481.2Mobilizer? (MOD NOT/CONF=PCAE::MOBILIZER by moderator)IRONIC::KARPELand ALL-4-1!Tue Apr 14 1992 17:1717
    Then again, the customer may be referring to Mobilizer for ALL-IN-1.
    This is a product that lets you upload and download ALL-IN-1 mail
    messages to a PC. You then use an ALL-IN-1 style menu to work on the
    messages. I believe it was designed to allow transfer of the messages
    by just dialing the modem number and then letting it do it's stuff.

    The notes conference is PCAE::MOBILIZER. (Sorry, I don't know how to
    do the KP7 thing! :-) )

    Good luck!
