Looking for some advice.... I have an ancient ALL-IN-1 V2.2 installation that I'm going to upgrade to V2.3 prior to transferring the users (all four of them) to a brand new V3.0 installation on another node. What I want to know is, do I have to find and apply all the patches that were released for V2.3? The kit I'm going to install is dated 12-JAN-1989 so it obviously hasn't been re-mastered to include the numerous bug fixes that were released. I expect these four users will be on the V2.3 system for several weeks while the new V3.0 system is prepared for their arrival, but they aren't "heavy" ALL-IN-1 users so I'm unsure if they'll even have the opportunity to discover any of the bugs the patches are supposed to fix. If I really should apply the patches, where can I get them? Thanks! /Greg

Greg, > What I want to know is, do I have to find and apply all the patches > that were released for V2.3? No. Some of the patches even need manually removal (forms). I would just run 2.3. Non of the bugs are fatal. Don't use housekeeping procedures RSD and Archiving. > If I really should apply the patches, where can I get them? Contact your CSC. Thanks! | |||||

Greg, Assuming you're in the U.S then your 'local' CSC is Atlanta and as I tend to spend some time there - usually Thursdays - which is pay-day. I 'll say that I agree with Jan to leave your v2.3 system unpatched. The v2.3 patch system wasn't too elegant - you had to install each one (and there were 13) by-hand and maybe do some stuff before upgrading to v2.4 (or in your case v3.0) that it isn't worth the effort if you're only going to be at v2.3 for a few weeks. Go v2.4 - v2.3 and then v3.0 Regards, Andrew.D.Wicks |
