456.1 | Check DECnet start | UTRTSC::SCHOLLAERT | Half Dutch - Half Belgium | Thu Apr 09 1992 20:34 | 15 |
| Hello Ann,
OA$PRIMARY_NODE will contain the cluster alias when the
logical SYS$CLUSTER_NODE exists when A1V24START runs during
system boot.
SYS$CLUSTER_NODE is set during the startup of DECnet during
the same boot.
Its not advisable to change the logical "manually". Better
to find out if/why SYS$CLUSTER_NODE is not there.
Hope this helps,
Jan

456.3 | OA$PRIMARY_NODE for complicated configuration | EEMELI::SALMINEN | I'm just a singer in an ALL-IN-1 band | Wed Dec 09 1992 09:32 | 19 |
| As far as I understand the correct definition of oa$primary_node
logical, the main rules are:
OA$PRIMARY_NODE is equal to
nodename when local MR is used
MR-node when remote MR is used
cluster alias when cluster alias is used
But what is the correct definition for this logical name to
different nodes in a network with several single ALL-IN-1 nodes
and a cluster (where ALL-In-1 and MR is started in some
nodes only), and the other single ALL-IN-1 nodes are going to
use the MR in the cluster nodes?
Best regards, Hannu

456.4 | THe MR node name | FORTY2::ASH | Grahame Ash @REO | Wed Dec 09 1992 10:40 | 12 |
| Hannu,
As your analysis shows, OA$PRIMARY_NODE should be set to the name of the node
which runs the Message Router which will deliver the mail to ALL-IN-1. (It was
invented before cluster aliases so that replies would work, even if MR did not
know of all the nodes in a cluster.) So it must be a node which the MR network
knows about.
So pick a node which is well known in MRMAN; if you use defualt DECnet, pick
the one which will be running MR.

456.5 | question | ESSB::MCKNIGHT | It's just been revoked | Tue Feb 09 1993 15:38 | 11 |
| Does this mean if I send a mail from vaxmail to
the following
OA$PRIMARY_NODE::MRGATE::"ALL-IN-1 Username"
it will ALWAYS get to the ALL-IN-1 username ?
