449.0. "LIB-F-BADBLOADR, bad block address" by LJOHUB::CRAWFORD () Thu Apr 09 1992 17:22

We have a rather strange problem with one of our users. We have a 3 node
cluster running ALL-IN-1 v2.4

When one of my users logs in, she gets the following error when running
allin1/check from her account

%LIB-F-BADBLOADR, bad block address

This only happens if she is on FAVAX. If she logs into Brutal or Spctrm
she does not get this problem.

I can run the allin1/check from my personal account on FAVAX without
getting this error.

I did an analy/disk/repair on the MB$DISK (which is our allin1 disk) and
got no errors. I restarted ALL-IN-1 on FAVAX and still she gets the error.

Can someone shed some light on this rather peculiar situation.

Thanks for any help.

    /CHECK isn't a STANDARD ALL-IN-1 qualifier.

    Do you by any chance have the CHECKMAIL ex-ASSET?

449.2we have the toolkitLJOHUB::CRAWFORDThu Apr 09 1992 19:256
If this is in the toolkit, yes.

But if that image is corrupt, why is it only not working on one node out of
three?

449.4Not privileged?SHALOT::TROTTAIntellectually challengedThu Apr 09 1992 19:5019
    Pam,

    I remember this error being reported when the checkmail image wasn't
    installed with the privilege it needs. This might explain why it only
    happens on one system, and maybe why it doesn't happen to you (maybe
    your account is privileged?).

    On the offending node, try:

    $ INSTALL REPLACE OA$LIB:CHECKMAIL/PRIV=SYSPRV (though READALL might be
                                                    really be enough)

    You could do a:

    $ INSTALL LIST OA$LIB:CHECKMAIL/FULL

    on one of the working nodes to see how (or if) it's installed there.

449.5Memory not diskIOSG::TALLETTJust one more fix, then we can ship...Thu Apr 09 1992 22:046

    	I think %LIB-F-BADBLOADR is referring to a memory block, not a
    	disk block.

449.6Problems 'interpreting' PROFILE.DATCESARE::EIJSAll in 1 PieceFri Apr 10 1992 13:2137
    It probably will be the result of OA$LIB:CHECKMAIL.EXE trying to map the
    V3.0 PROFILE.DAT, and because that data set changed structure a wrong
    field value is used for further processing.

    'Set watch...' shows successfull access to PROFILE.DAT, but never
    comes to PENDING.DAT when e.g. $ ALLIN1/CHECK/UNREAD is done.

    This was the result of a test done by ASSETS Support, which is evaluating
    current ASSETS against V3.0. You probably could try POMPEO::EOASSETS also
    for more info.

    Ciao,

	Simon
