| OA$BEEP - This function when called rings the bell on the user's terminal.
On second thought - a /BEEP qualifier on OA$DISPLAY and OA$PROMPT might work
just as well, though (on third thought) in the long run I think a seperate
function might prove to be more flexable.
Re: .1
Andrew, I'll be glad to SPR these and free up the valuable and limited disk
space so that more important discussions about even more valuable and more
limited parking space can take place if someone will tell me how. :^)>

| How about using the ALL-IN-1 function
GET OA$FUNCTION = "^G"
Works for me....

406.8 | OA$DISPLAY="^G" is what .-1 really wanted to type, but some of the keys did not work | SHALOT::GEERDES | | Fri Apr 03 1992 19:16 | 0 |

| Joe,
^G is actually one character (decimal 7).
Use EDT or TPU with the EDT keypad and do a GOLD 7 GOLD 3 to get the
CTRL G character.

| I suspect it'd be remarkably simple to make it a special symbol.
There might a catch, like it will need to be a routine to check it
can really do a beep on the terminal - I don't know what IBM EBCDIC
terminal accept as the ASCII <BEL> for example
