347.1 | Depends how you're doing it | IOSG::SHOVE | Dave Shove -- REO-D/3C | Mon Mar 30 1992 14:37 | 16 |
| It depends on how you've set up the auto-forward.
If you've used an address such as user@MRGATE (or perhaps user@VAXMAIL
or user@VMSMAIL), then the short answer is No. The message is being
formatted by the message router gateway (MrGate).
If, on the other hand, you've set up your autofward to _user or
_NM%user or something like that, then the message is formatted using
the same boilerplates that are used when reading or printing messages
on your ALL-IN-1 system. These boilerplates can be customised to
suppress the printing of the distribution lists (system wide) - this
has been discussed before (probably in the old notes file) and is
fairly simple to do. But of course you'll then lose the distribution
lists on printed output as well (mot necessarily a bad thing).

Do you mean? _demoax::loew . I thought that this does not work anymore?
Thank you,

347.4 | It doesn't work from autoforward (AF) menu! | TWYLA::LOEW | | Mon Mar 30 1992 22:21 | 9 |

First of all it seems that special.com has to exist in OA$LIB for _
to work. From the AF menu if I ask for _demoax::loew it says distribution lists
are not allowed.
Help and Thank You,
Jerry

347.5 | You want it easy???? :-) | IOSG::PYE | Graham - ALL-IN-1 Sorcerer's Apprentice | Tue Mar 31 1992 09:58 | 6 |
| That's because we're discouraging you from using it.
Of course if you wrote directly into the PROFIL Auto Forward field
(PROFIL.MAIL_FORWARD['your_name']) then it might work...

| Re .3>> It works, we just discourage it, since one day it might not
One day it might work slightly differently, not wishing to commit to
anything too specific at this stage :-)
Re .4>> it seems that special.com has to exist in OA$LIB for _ to work
Yes!! That's precisely where SPECIAL.COM, as supplied in the base kit for
sending VMSmail (although note this is not the "preferred" way to send VMSmail,
it is just a convenient "example" to help customers who wish to use SPECIAL.COM
for its proper purpose), is supposed to live!
Re .5>> That's because we're discouraging you from using it
I wouldn't have said "discourage" generally. Just "discourage its global use as
a short-cut to VMSmail". The mechanism itself is just part of AMTS, which will
be around for a long time to come.
