332.0. "archiving without read receipts..." by MSAM03::HOSOKEHUN () Thu Mar 26 1992 07:34

    HI,

We are planning to do some customization for customer and would like to
    know if:

    1. there is a field in the mail header to indicate that this mail is
       just a READ RECEIPT ?

    2. how do I extend the field length of the TITLE (subject) field ?

The reason for the above is that we plan to do archving based on the
outbox folder but do not want the READ RECEIPTS to be archived.

    Thanks and regards,
    Angeline

    1. No. You'll have to check the text in the subject field. Sorry.

    2. Depends which of those you mean. TITLE is in the DOCDB, and is
therefore fixed length (well, in theory you used to be able to
customise DOCDB, but I'm not sure you still can. Anyway you'd have to
Convert all existing DOCDB files - yuch!)

SUBJECT is an SDAF field, and so can be very long (around 1920
bytes in theory). Only the first <so many> characters are displayed on
the mail header form - that's simply due to the limitation of the
screen width. You could probably customise the mail header templates
    (MAILMEMO1.BLP, MAILMEMO2.BLP, MAILATT1.BLP ,MAILATT2.BLP) to display a
long subject as several lines, if you needed to.

    Hope this helps,
    Dave.
