331.0. "time frame to support optical disk ??" by MSAM03::HOSOKEHUN () Thu Mar 26 1992 07:21

    Hi,

    I have a need for an answer on whether ALL-IN-1 IOS is going to support
    optical disk.

    Is there anyone out there who knows anything about this ??

    Does DIAMOND support optical disk ? If not, would the next release do
    ?? when is the 'target' date for the next release ??

    Customer need to know if we plan to support optical disk and the time
    frame.

    Thanks and regards,
    Angeline

331.1Wrong conference for futures discussions!IOSG::PYEGraham - ALL-IN-1 Sorcerer's ApprenticeThu Mar 26 1992 10:247
    There is no more (or less :-) ) support for Optical Discs in V3.0 than
    there was in any previous release.

    If you want to ask a futures question then please ask in A1INFO, see
    Note 4.* for pointer.

    RE:2,

    this customer is in a banking environment and they want to use optical
    disks for storage/archiving purposes. Their records need to be kept for
    years down the line.

    Wasn't there some discussion in the old conference regarding optical
    disks? I believe that customer wanted to know whether they could use
    optical disks for archiving - and I think the answer was that it hadn't
    been tried, but that they could think of no reason why it shouldn't
    work.

    Sorry to not be more precise - you might like to check the old
    conference out.
