Dear Alf,
I am writing this letter to sincerely thank you and your staff
for the outstanding effort that you provided to the Denver VAMC
during the beta testing of version 3.0 of ALL-IN-1. While many
people have been involved in this effort, I especially appreciate
the professionalism and talents of Mr Kevin Standage and Mr John
Lanoue.
Due to the fact that a major role of a beta test site is to
discover problems, most of the communication between DEC and the
Denver VAMC concerning ALL-IN-1 version 3.0 has centered on these
problems. This situation should not obscure the fact that ALL-IN-1
version 3.0 is an absolutely OUTSTANDING system. Our 680 active
ALL-IN-1 users have unanimously stated that the new features are
easy to understand and learn, and are directly applicable to a
large office's work flow needs. Multiple users have stopped me in
the hall and said, "This is what all word processor systems should
be like".
One of the ways that I judge the effectiveness of a software system
is the degree to which the system provokes new ideas. Since the
implementation of ALL-IN-1 version 3.0 we have had a tremendous
increase in requests for advanced training; we have seen several
small ad hoc committees formed to investigate new ways to use
office automation; and we have seen an increased interest in inter-
departmental communication via ALL-IN-1. This interest in office
automation and communication is a direct result of the increased
effectiveness and usefulness of version 3.0 of ALL-IN-1.
So again, I thank you and your staff for the wonderful support you
provided during the beta testing. But even more, I thank you for
an outstanding system.
Sincerely,
David H. Wilson, M.D.

The same letter may be found in this base note so I have deleted
Fiona's note and I have moved Fiona's additional comments here to reply

Thought you might be interested to see this letter from one of our external
ALL-IN-1 V3.0 field test sites.
The Denver VA hospital was the first customer site ever to run ALL-IN-1
field test software in production mode. They installed various of the
base-levels, starting with BL90, and proved very important to us in finding
real life user problems.
The ALL-IN-1 & WPS-PLUS specialists in the Atlanta support centre were also
instrumental in making this a success.
Rgds,
Fiona
