240.0. "Tailor off DECwindows after ALL-IN-1 is installed?" by HTSC19::STEVENLAU (Steven Lau HKCS) Mon Mar 16 1992 03:07

     A customer has DECwindows installed before ALL-IN-1 V2.4 was installed.
Then the customer tailored off the DECwindows classes. They got the FNF error
when starting OA$FORMATTER. From a STAR article, it mentions that if DECwindows
is installed before ALL-IN-1 then OA$FORMATTER will use several DECwindows
files. Now the customer would like to tailor off the DECwindows classes. Will
relink ALL-IN-1 disconnect the linkage of ALL-IN-1 and DECwindows files? Or,
should the customer reinstall ALL-IN-1?

Thanks,
  Steven

    I am quite sure that all the customer will have to do is to relink
    ALL-IN-1.

    I am sure someone will respond if this is not the case.

    Have fun,

240.2Remove CDA ?UTRTSC::SCHOLLAERTHalf Dutch - Half BelgiumTue Mar 17 1992 07:0721
    Steven,

    If the customer has CDA installed , his has to delete two files
    manually: -< CDA$ACCESS.EXE and DDIF$VIEWSHR.EXE >-

    Quoted from note 3937.5 of the 2.4 conference:

    "According to A1LINK.COM, when ALL-IN-1 V2.4 links OA$FORMATTER, it
    looks to see if SYS$LIBRARY:CDA$ACCESS.EXE is there and it also looks
    to see if SYS$LIBRARY:DDIF$VIEWSHR.EXE is there. Both CDA$ACCESS.EXE
    and DDIF$VIEWSHR.EXE have references to SYS$LIBRARY:IMG$SHRLIB.EXE
    which comes from DECwindows application development software.

    The customer needs to delete CDA$ACCESS.EXE and DDIF$VIEWSHR.EXE in
    order for the link of OA$FORMATTER to work. Otherwise, he needs to
    install full DECwindows. "

240.3FCS should be re-linked as wellCHRLIE::HUSTONTue Mar 17 1992 19:5412

    If you have installed the FCS before you delete CDA$access.exe then
    you should re-link (or re-install) the FCS.

    The FCS links against cda$access.exe. If it is nto there when
    we link we link against a "dummy" cda$access. If you are linked
    against the real cda$access, then delete it, if you ever try to
    make the FCS make a CDA call, bad things will happen. to be
    safe relink the server.

    Please be aware that normally A1LINK will not relink the File Cab
    Server unless the VMS version has changed since it was last linked. You
    can work around this by editing OA$BUILD_SHARE:A1LINK.ANS and changing
    the setting of A1$LAST_VMS_VER.

240.5DECwindows - how much of it?LARVAE::JORDANChris Jordan, TSE - Technology Services, End-User ComputingWed Jan 27 1993 11:569
    Anyone know:

    A. What the MINIMUM bits (and space) of DECwindows that ALL-IN-1 V3.x
    	needs?

    B. What the minimum bits (and space) of DECwindows that ALL-IN-1 V3.x
    	using the CDA Converter Library needs?

    Cheers, Chris
