233.0. "CM S FD question" by UTROP2::LANGENBERG_C () Fri Mar 13 1992 11:03

    Hello,

    I've a small CM question:

    What I want:
    ------------
    - send a form to another programmer using CM S.

How I try to do it:
    -------------------

    CM
Sel a form (created in a development part of a newly created area)

    S
    FD

The option FD gives the error: Cannot Select this option.

    My question:
    ------------

what circumstances can cause this error?
All other option work, but I would like to send the FRM.

Can anyone tell what I'm overlooking?

    Thanks in advance,

    Clarie

    Clarie,

It works for a FRM I pulled out of the base area of the OA Application
    - does that work for you??

If so I'd check that you managed to define your application and its
area(s) correctly and run DAL and all that good stuff and then you used
LFL to add the locks (I'm sure I missed something)

Then i'd put the new sexy trace stuff on? Do it to the screen
wait for the error message. Then Hit CTRL-B folowed by GOLD B to get to
the bottom and then search backwards to see what it was doing last.

    Clarie,

I've just tried to do this. I copied form MAIN into a new application
area called CF_SHARE, selected the copied form, and typed in S (for
Send Element). CM presented a number of sub-options to allow me to
select what I'd like to send. I typed in "FD", indicating that I'd like
to send the FRM. CM extracted the FRM from DEVELOP.FLB (in the
CF application development area) and attached it as an .FGN file to the
mail message, which was then sent. All went well.

Is this what you tried to do? If so, can you trace this to a log file
and post it here and I'll try and figure out what's going wrong.

    Hello,

    thanks for your answers.
I can see now what I did wrong: most options you can select using
the <sel> key, what I was trying to do, except de FD option and
some others. My misunderstanding of how to use these options.
Using FD instead of <sel> works fine.

The SEL (Select) key is used when you want to take multiple options
from a context sensitive menu. Otherwise type in a single option and
    press RETURN.

When you SELext multiple components of an object they are actually all
merged into 1 and then either read, printed or sent.

We have to stop you selecting the FRM therefore since we cannot merge
the foreign file with the other options which all produce text.
