CDA Engineering is looking for internal field test sites for CDA Runtime
Services V1.0 (previously know as CDA Base Services). See the brief product
and additions to this release descriptions below.

If you will fill out and return the attached questionnaire we will provide a
pointer to the kit and documentation sometime in the next week. EFT is
currently scheduled for 23 March 92.

	Product Description

CDA Runtime Services is a set of software components which support the
creation, access conversion and display of compound documents using
the syntax and semantics of Digital's Compound Document Architecture.

        These components include;

                - A runtime library that facilitates the operation of other
parts of the CDA Runtime Services and other CDA conforming
                  applications.
                - Analysis back end: a converter for CDA application debugging
                - Text front and back ends which convert ASCII test to and
                  from DDIF
                - Postscript back end: a DDIF to Postscript converter
                - Domain converter which converts DTIF to DDIF
                - DECwindows CDA converter selection widget which displays an
available converters list and a list of files for conversion
                - Command line interface to CDA converters
                - CDA Motif viewer to display CDA documents on workstations
with the DECwindows Motif product installed
                - CDA character cell viewer for CDA document display on
		  character cell terminals

This release incorporates changes that will allow CDArt to ship as
a layered product. Specifically, this includes installation and IVP
for each supported platform, LMF* support on VMS and CDA functioning
	in non DECwindows environments.

The following items are expected to be included in the release.

                - enhancements to DTIF Grammar
             * - CDA Toolkit "file sniffer" as a callable routine to determine
                  file types
             * - Internationalization (Japan, Hebrew, Asian DECwrite)
                - CDA Viewer audio support
                - Additional font support

                  available converters"
             * - add HyperHelp to converter selection widget
                - minor DDIF grammar changes in Toolkit
