210.1 | Might be an oldie ... | SHALOT::HUNT | Virginia -- 1992 ACC Women's Hoops Champs | Tue Mar 10 1992 21:14 | 4 |
| Check for a *sequential* NICKNAMES.DAT. Ask if the user tried to edit
the file with EDT or TPU.

210.2 | NICKNAMES.DAT caused this problem in the past | GIDDAY::SETHI | Man from Downunder | Tue Mar 10 1992 23:34 | 10 |
| I came across a problem like this it was caused by NICKNAMES.DAT being
a sequential file. As soon as this file was FDL'd the problem went
away.
If you find that this is not the problem set trace on to see where it's
failing. From what I can remember when you enter a name in the "TO:"
or the "CC:" fields NICKNAMES, PROFILE then NETWORK .dat's are searched
in this order.

210.3 | There was no NICKNAMES.DAT!!!! | VAXSPO::WILLECKE | | Wed Mar 11 1992 13:52 | 10 |

OK! I looked for the file NICKNAMES.DAT in the user account and I
couldn't find it! So, I copied my NICKNAMES file to her ALL-IN-1
subdirectory and now it's working...
This is really a simple solution for a so complicated error message!
Thanks,
Val.

210.4 | Troubleshooting accvios in sending mail | EEMELI::SALMINEN | Hannu Salminen, PTG -Finland | Wed Apr 22 1992 12:39 | 8 |
| Even more information can be obtained if you give the command
$SET WATCH FILE/CLASS=ALL on DCL-level before starting ALL-IN-1
session. This is good means to check which are all the files
accessed when going to send a message.

210.5 | Save paper/screen space . . . | IOSG::SHOVE | Dave Shove -- REO-D/3C | Mon Apr 27 1992 11:34 | 8 |
| Or $SET WATCH FILE/CLASS=(ALL,NODUMP)
(DUMP produces 4 lines of hex data per operation - very tedious!)
Note that you need CMKRNL priv to use SET WATCH FILE (you can turn it
off after giving the SET command if you want to).
