| Andrew has given you a pointer to the VAX Notes conference for
ALL-IN-1/TRS which uses the Excalibur search engine. This product has
been available for sometime and is even in the DECdirect Software
Edition catalogue (Fall/Winter 1991/92, page 94).
It sounds like Ann is referring to another possible future product based
on the Verity engine which is a part of the CBRS program. Given that
ALL-IN-1/CBRS is a possible future it cannot be discussed here. I
suggest discussing it in A1INFO or offline.
The customers needs and desires should always be placed in the
forefront, of course. There are some major issues to be addressed when
choosing between the various options and engines. The A1CBR conference
to which Andrew points (pointed) is a good place to discuss the
engines features and benefits.
For now, ALL-IN-1/TRS is the only ALL-IN-1 based Content Based
Retrieval package available. It is also the first layered product of
which I am aware which fully supports ALL-IN-1 V3.0 including, of
course, shared drawers. All we need now is for V3.0 to escape.
My group, New Ventures, does a lot of content based retrieval and
imaging work and are available to help in any way possible.
Have fun,
don

| thanks andrew and don. i got some user doc from the conferenc in .1,

that it was in FT.

| Ann,
I am virtually certain that there is no ALL-IN-1/CBR product in field
test. Someone may have assumed that the CBRS based ALL-IN-1
integration was in field test but I do not believe this is the case.
I am sending you the name of the product manager off-line.
Have fun and stay warm,
don
