ALL-IN-1 Starter V2.4 if this is upgraded to FULL ALL-IN-1 V2.4 what
are the procedures. i didn't see anything in athe ALL-IN-1 Starter
installation guide for this option. is this even possible? what will
happen to accounts that are already created? do the users lose any
documents?
thanks - ann

| another concern with ALL-IN-1 starter 2.4.
i'm upgrading another site to full function ALL-In-1 and according to
athe ALL-IN-1 installation guide (chapter 9) it says to run a command
procedure SYS$MANAGER:AS024_PREV24_UPGRADE.COM to set the proper
environment before the upgrade.
well, i can't find this procedure anywhere. its not listed in any of
the savesets. i did a back/list and looked in the manuals. does anyone
know what this does? will i get #%*$'d if i don't run it?
thanks - ann

| Ann,
This question was raised in the ALL-IN-1_V24 conference topic 3117.
The answer is that SYS$MANAGER:AS024_PREV24_UPGRADE.COM does not exist
and you should ignore that step in the upgrade.
Regards,
Martin.

200.7 | starter is everywhere ! | NCBOOT::HARRIS | oooppps | Wed Jun 03 1992 23:04 | 11 |
| i hate to start this up again - BUT....
i have to install A1Starter on another system here in a couple of
weeks and the customer had some questions...
1. is ALL-IN-1 3.0 compatible? meaning - they can communicate with
each other.
2. will A1Starter 2.4 be upgraded to a version similar to ALL-IN-1
3.0 ? If so, any idea when?
Thanks - Ann

200.8 | STARTER and V3 compatible | PAULUS::HOFMANN | Stefan Hofmann, LC Frankfurt, ISE | Thu Jun 04 1992 07:20 | 10 |
| Ann,
1. yes, you can exchange mails between ALL-IN-2 STARTER V2.4 and
ALL-IN-1 V3.0. Both versions are compatible to each other. However, you
can't do things that have not been supported in V2.4 times.
2. Since this is a "future" question I leave the answer up to people
who can decide whether it should be answered here and now.

| to continue in the starter saga....
a couple of weeks ago i installed ALL-IN-1 STARTER 2.4 on a new
site. a few days later, i added about 40-50 users. about 10 of these
had their file cabs transferred from ohter system, the rest were new
users to ALL-IN-1. This was on a friday. i was away the next week,
when i get back i have a message saying that the "new' users were not
able to access ALL-IN-1, they were getting the message - "you are not
authorized to run ALL-IN-1.
in looking about, i found that the VMS files under the .OA dir were
there, but the user profiles in ALL-IN-1 were missing! i readded the
users profiles last friday. today, the users accunts were "locked".
this is only the accounts that i did not transfer.
funny thing is though, after i installed ALL-IN-1 STARTER 2.4, i
created a test account for myself and it worked/works fine. has anyone
ever seen this happen before. the VMS system was a little unstable
(going down for no apparent reason), VMS 5.3.
things seem fine now, but i'd like to know why.....

200.11 | Sounds fairly normal | IOSG::TALLETT | Arranging bits for a living... | Tue Jul 28 1992 10:37 | 14 |

I don't think this is a Starter problem.
When you create a user, the profile entry is created with the
"locked" flag set. Only when the create finishes completely
does the account get unlocked. You can read the profiles even
if they are locked, but you can't start ALL-IN-1 using them.
So it sounds like your create jobs didn't finish. Did the manager
get the "Account FOO has been created successfully" mails?
What do the create logs say?

Paul
