184.0. "Select & Print with GOLD D" by VANGA::KERRELL (Dave Kerrell @REO 830-2279) Fri Mar 06 1992 10:52

I am an UK Core ALL-IN-1 user on node CHEFS.

Yesterday, I reported the following printing to I.S. CHOPS log 11365:

After selecting several documents to print using the <Select> key, I then
entererd the command "XP" to print all documents selected. At the printer
queue prompt I entered <GOLD>D to change the printer commands from my default
of Number_Up=2 and Double_Sided to Number_Up=1 and Single_Sided and then
printed. However, when I collected the documents I found the first document
was printed as instructed but all subsequent documents were Number_Up=2 and
Double_Sided.

I.S. responded with a workaround, which is to change the default before and
after printing. I felt this was a little awkward for everyday usage.

Can anyone suggest either an alternative way of working or perhaps an
escalation path to get the problem fixed?

Thanks in advance,
Dave.

184.1<GOLD-D> is a CORE customizationIOSG::NEWLANDRichard Newland, IOSG, REO1-D/4AFri Mar 06 1992 11:4811
<GOLD>D during a print operation is a CORE customization, and is not part
of the standard ALL-IN-1 V2.4 product. I think you have found a bug in the
CORE customizations so you will have to escalate it to the maintainers of the
UK CORE system.

When CHEFS is upgraded to ALL-IN-1 V3.0 the standard product will provide
the functionality you want. However, the user interface is not the same as
the UK CORE system.

re.1:

Is V3 also called Diamond? If so, I.S. told me that the problem will not go
away with Diamond.

Anyone know who the maintainers of the UK Core customisation are?

Thanks,
Dave.

    OK, I'll own that one.

Firstly, .-1 is correct, GOLD-D is an enhancement applied to ALL-IN-1
services in the UK. It is, in fact, an ASSET.

My team (IS Infrastructure Office Products ) now own the UK CORE
ALL-IN-1 service. We've only recently started to pick this up, so
it'll be a while before we can effect any changes.

Dave, we'll take this point up with the Asset people and get back to
you direct (we've already got the call that you logged).

As this note relates to the implementation of an ASSET in the UK it's
continued discussion in this conference would seem inappropriate.

    So.....

Re: .2

1. ALL-IN-1 V3.0 was called DIAMOND when it was being developed.

2. In V3.0 Number Up, Sides and all other printing options (but not
formatting options) are applied to all the VMS print jobs created by an
XP operation. If I.S. say otherwise they are wrong.
