177.0. "Scratch Pad problems" by ESMAIL::M_MOREAU (is something wrong...or is it just a personal problem) Thu Mar 05 1992 14:39

I have been trying to do screen captures using <gold/p> and putting
said screens in my scratch pad. I am using ALL-IN-1 V3.0 PBL122D (US).
The following are a few perplexing sceens that have happened:

    	1) I get into ALL-IN-1 and go to the screen I want (which just
happens not to have a Current Item Block dealing with a file
cabinet), do the <gold/p> and then do a <gold/*> (or SP) to
get the Scratch Pad menu. I *want* to File it and so I choose
that option. The argument form comes up appropriately and at
the bottom of the screen it get the following message
"Symbol "#PREVIOUS_DOC=@#CURDOC" not found". Then I got
    	   stacked dumped.

        2) I get into ALL-IN-1 and go to the screen I want (which just
happens to have a Current Item Block dealing with a file
cabinet), do the <gold/p> and then do a <gold/*> (or SP) to
get the Scratch Pad menu. I *want* to File it and so I choose
that option. The argument form comes up appropriately and at
the bottom of the screen it get the following message
"Symbol "#PREVIOUS_DOC=@#CURDOC" not found". Then I got
    	   stacked dumped.

Of course this happened about four times. I did the typical thing...
I logged out and did something else for while. But when I logged back
in again I re-issued the 2nd scenario and it says it was "creating new
document..." but it didn't . I should also probably state that I have
been attempting to put them in the MAIN drawer (I haven't even messed
    with those yet!).
My work around has been to mail the scratch
pad but that's not what I should have to....I want the screen captures
in my file cabinet without having to mail them and then file them
    (ugh!).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't think I had to go to a File
Cabinet menu prior to doing a <gold/p> (at least I never did before!)
has something changed? Has anyone else had the problem? Or should it
just be attributed to the fact that I was probably bad once as a child?

    Thanks in advance.

    Meg

It's at least five bugs you've found.

    1. The stack dump results from the CABINET POP function if the File
       Cabinet is not open.

    2. The "Symbol "#PREVIOUS_DOC=@#CURDOC" not found" results from
improvements to symbol processing where an error is reported
if a reference to an indirect symbol is made, and that symbol is
not set. The bug was also in V2.4, but never noticed because the
       error message was not reported.

    3. The File Cabinet should have been opened before the form to capture
       document information was displayed.

    4. Even if you try this from the EM menu it does not work if your
       current drawer is shared.

    5. After you type F the document create screen appears, but the lie
24 message "Creating document . . ." is not cleared.

I'll make up an IPR (internal problem report) for this. Thanks for
    reporting it.

    Cheers

    Stuart

p.s. I could not spot the difference between your scenarios 1 and 2.
