175.0. "Time Management Miscellany" by WELLIN::NISBET (Vote Cyril Sneer for President!) Thu Mar 05 1992 10:55

I've been trying out Time and Event Management.

Q: When I select the PET option, for printing Events and Tasks, I'd like
to be able to get all the events printed out. It seems at the moment
that it will only print events if the SD (Set Date) option is set to a
day on which events are scheduled.

    Q: If I use a convention such as TASK 1, TASK 2, TASK 3
to prioritise tasks, will it be printed in TASK order? I meant to try
this out, but notice that it isn't possible to edit the TASK keyword.
Is this the normal way to prioritise?

    Q: When an attendee replies to a meeting request, the message;
%OA-E-CMATNDWRITERR, Error occured writing to attendee file
is given. Is this something I'm doing wrong? Mailed IS.

Q: When getting monthly overview printed, I notice naming conventions
like A and M. Presumable M for Meeting. What is A?

Q: Is this conference the appropriate place to ask these sort of
    questions?

Hi,

>> How do I find out?

If you have the required ALL-IN-1 privilege, this will show you
(type it at an ALL-IN-1 menu prompt):

<GET OA$VERSION

If it doesn't work, try this (if you have the required VMS privs):

$ DIR SYS$STARTUP:A1V*START.COM

The file(s) found will have a number where the * is; 23 for 2.3, 24 for 2.4,
30 for 3.0...

If that doesn't work, ask the system manager...

From your notes, it sounds like you are on an internal system.
True? Well, if you are and if you invite people to meetings
using the 'Name @Location-Code' syntax, the attendee's attempt to
reply to the meeting will not work. If the attendee is on the
same machine as you, you can just enter their user name
(Lastname.Firstname). If the attendee is on a different machine,
you must enter the syntax 'A1-username @A1 @machine-name'.

> Q: When getting monthly overview printed, I notice naming conventions
> like A and M. Presumable M for Meeting. What is A?

A is for appointment. ALL-IN-1 prior to V2.3 had Meetings and
Appointments. These were combined into Events. Also prior to
V2.3, ALL-IN-1 had Reminders, Action Items and To Do Items. These
        have been combined into Tasks.

        Absolutely!

I would like the flexibility of being able to arrange meetings with
remote users. I've been using the
    	Dougie Nisbet @ UBO
    syntax.

FWIW: The machine I use ALL-IN-1 on is WELCLU, and I've been
experimenting with remote adressees. I shall try the
         user @ a1 @machinename

format you suggest. Is machinename the Mailstop, or the nodename?

machinename is the nodename. Painful - sorry.

175.8about those tasks...SEWNSO::PEACOCKBack in the saddle againMon Mar 09 1992 14:5617
Tasks are displayed in alphabetical order by category and title - with a one
character "hidden" preface of one of the following:

	A - created under Tasks

A - created under Action items (old UI)
R - created under Remiders (old UI)
T - created under To-do Items (old UI)

The Tasks subsystem leave a lot to be desired, in my opinion. You ought to be
able to change the category and/or title as well as specify the order in which
they are displayed. The good news is that since Tasks are a very simple
application based on entry forms with no Bliss code to speak of, you can fairly
easily customize it to suit your needs.

175.9TM and E-Mail Autoforward queryNEWVAX::MZARUDZKII am my own VAXTue Jul 07 1992 12:5612

    New question,

A customer has complained that when they autoforward their account
they still recieve TM meeting notices. Any "fix" to handle this?
I know that meetings are TM and autoforwarding is E-Mail but what can
I tell the customer? Can ALL-IN-1 Personal Assistant be of use here?
Does it truely handle an autoforwarded account.
    ALL-IN-1 Version 2.4 no patches.

    Thanks in ADVANCE.

175.10Telling customers is always more difficultAIMTEC::ZANIEWSKI_DWhy would CSC specialists need training?Tue Jul 07 1992 14:056
By design, they should not autoforward. Event notices are mail
messages with attached functions. If the attached function is
executed in the wrong account, there is not telling what damage
        might occur.

    Mike,

How are they autoforwarding their mail? Are they using the EM AF
option, or have they changed their ALL-IN-1 mail destination to
something like 'VMSMAIL'? As Dave stated in .-1, TM messages should not
autoforward, but if you have a special mail destination, they will...

    						Cheers, Dan'l

    re-.1

They autoforward via EM AF to a valid ALL-IN-1 user on the same node.
Nothing fancy. I'll double check to see if someone has set a special
    mail destination.

    -Thanks,
    Mike Z.
175.13This is straight from customers foot.NEWVAX::MZARUDZKII am my own VAXTue Jul 07 1992 19:2113
     re -.2

The customer has stated that they have autoforwarded in the usual way.
The customer also stated that another user has access to their
calander. Perhaps this user (C) gets into the autoforwarded account (A)
and schedules a meeting with user (B). User (B) then replies and the
message still plops into user with autoforward set (A) account. Does
this sound reasonable? Can someone duplicated this? Or is this indeed
intended behaviour as mentioned by an earlier reply.

    -sigh,
    Mike Z.
Thanks again for all the assistance.
175.14TM EV fails - you must have someone to meet withPOBOX::RILEYI *am* the D.J.Fri Nov 06 1992 17:1219

    ALL-IN-1 V3.0, recent upgrade.

Any user trying to schedule an event can't. After they put in the
invited attendees names, it goes back to the EV menu with the message
"You must have someone to meet with" displayed on line 24.

Using A1/NOCUSTOM works. I realize this is a customization issue but I
don't know where to look. All the files [allin1...]TM*.* match the
correct date/time from a system where it works.

I searched all COM, SCP, BLP, OLB, and MSG files for the text string
"someone" and couldn't find it. I also searched the .FLB's

Can someone tell me where this message is coming from so I can get a
    handle on how to resolve?

    THANK YOU

175.16Some sound advice already given I believeAIMTEC::WICKS_ALiverpool 4 Norwich 1Fri Nov 06 1992 18:0217
    Bob,

Assuming this is the same MTS site and it seems too coincidental not to
    be (:==:)...

I would also advise you to follow the advice that was given when this call
was logged with the CSC - which is to look at your customised
application specifically the section where events are created. Trace
can be used to determine what it is that worked under v2.4 that doesn't
    work anymore.

And of course if you ran the CART then look at that and see what
elements it reported as needing to be modified and see if they were.

    Regards,

    Andrew.D.Wicks
