Subject: ** Delay in ALL-IN-1 Version 3.0 (Diamond) First Cust. Ship
Dear Extended Program team members:
ALL-IN-1 entered the ESSB and SSB on time and was scheduled
for a February First Customer Ship (FCS).
During the manufacturing process, additional reports came
in from several field test sites with regard to installation
problems and inconsistencies within the 2.3/2.4 migration documentation.
New customer sites, with new installations do not have
installation problems. But, customers migrating from 2.3 and 2.4
ALL-IN-1 systems were having numerous difficulties in accomplishing
the task with the existing installation materials.
To assure a successful migration to the new Server platform
we have decided to remaster the ALL-IN-1 IOS version 3.0 kit to make
the changes below following the advice of our field test sites:
A) Make additional updates to the Read Me First
and Release Notes
B) Fix some minor problems in the CART tool
C) Rework and better explain how to use the CART tool
in migration planning and in particular the MANDATORY
changes section. An additional document has been
added to help system managers and A1 applications
programmers.
D) In addition this delay has allowed us to pick
up the patch fixes to WPS-Plus 4.0 that have generated
a number of CLDs in recent months. (this means 2.4-1
sites will have a updated version of WPS-Plus with Diamond)
Of the alternatives available, adding these additional
planning materials and making minor code changes was judged to
minimize the impact on FCS while * significantly enhancing * the
installation success rate and increasing overall customer
satisfaction with ALL-IN-1 Version 3.0. After installation,
customers were very happy with the new features and in particular
the new shared filing in ALL-IN-1.
We will be re-validating our progress with our field test
customers in March, re-submiting the kit in Mid March and expect
currently a FCS date of middle of April 1992.
