139.0. "WordPerfect ACCVIOs during mail edits" by WAYOUT::ALLAMS () Fri Feb 28 1992 18:47
Hi,
My customer is having intermitant problems when using wordperfect
to edit mail messages: ocassionally, the user is stack dumped when
doing a gold/f. I am aware of the problem in tm where this happens
(see stars article below), but the customer is worried as this is
an intermitant problem, and wishes to know if it is the SAME problem
that will be fixed in v3.0?

GOLD F results in stack dump using WordPerfect editor in form TM EV MA
\\Product Set : OA4
\\PFE : BEAGLE::MORTAIN
\\Techn. Editor: TIMA::ARTICLE
\Article submitted by: ALEX CHEUNG | 178325
PRODUCT: ALL-IN-1 V2.4
OP/SYS: VAX VMS
PROBLEM:
When a user types GOLD F to file message created for MA under WordPerfect
editor, a stack dump or access violation occurs. (also referenced in
the Stars article "UDP With GOLD FILE Results In Stack Dump From TM EV MA").
The problem occurs when accessing WordPerfect either thru a UDP or
interactively and can be reproduced using the following UDP:
TM{CR}
EV{CR}
MA{CR}
TEST{CR}
{GOLD F}
The problem described is a restriction in the current version of
ALL-IN-1 V2.4 and has been addressed for resolution in ALL-IN-1 V3.0
A workaround, specific to WordPerfect, exists:
Instead of typing GOLD F under WordPerfect, use the function key F13
to save the document.

139.1 | It's WordPerfect's problem | SIOG::T_REDMOND | Thoughts of an Idle Mind | Fri Feb 28 1992 20:44 | 9 |
| No guarantee can be offered (by Digital). It's up to WordPerfect
whether or not they fix the bug that causes their code to ACCVIO when
mail messages are being edited. WordPerfect does not co-operate with
Digital regarding their integration so we can do nothing when their
code decides that it has worked too hard.
Talk to WordPerfect.

139.2 | Part of the problem is corrected | AIMTEC::ZANIEWSKI_D | Why would CSC specialists need training? | Fri Feb 28 1992 22:26 | 8 |
| Hi Steve,
The base problem was also reproducible when using WPS-PLUS as your
editor. This problem has been remedied in V3.0. As Tony indicates,
we won't know if WordPerfect has fixed their part of the problem
until their next integration hits the streets.
