43.0. "Converting from ALL-IN-1 to VMS/WPS" by MYOSPY::LORTIE () Wed Feb 19 1992 00:10

	I'm not sure if this is the proper place to address this problem?
Then again, nobody seems to have a handle on the problem. The conference
moderator may move this to an appropriate conference.

	The system (ASABET) that I am currently using will no longer be
available to my group. We will now have our system on a private 8280.
This new system will not be supporting ALL-IN-1. Since I have been raised
on ALL-IN-1 all my documents are written and stored in ALL-IN-1. The new
system (MYOSPY) has VMS/WPS-PLUS. In converting my documents from ASABET
ALL-IN-1 to MYOSPY WPS the documents have come across corrupted.

	The major problem is that I changed RULER settings in creating the
documents. The documents that are now in WPS on MYOSPY have reverted back
to the original RULER tab settings. Several of the documents are in excess
of 500 lines.

QUESTION:	How can I go about converting the documents back to the
		original format, without retyping the entire documents??

	The fixes that I have tried to date are;
1)	Converting (SV option in ALL-IN-1) to a first level VMS file and
mailing the file via E-MAIL.

2)	Coverting (SVC option) then mailing via E_MAIL.

3)	Converting to an ASCII file then converting to VMS then mailing
via E-MAIL. Both using SV and SVC options.

4)	Converting via SV, SVC and ASCII then COPY the file to MYOSPY.

5)	Attempted to mail using send/foreign to MYOSPY.

	All the files were extracted/noheader and brought into VMS/WPS
via the RV option in WPS. In each case the documents no longer held the
same TAB/RULER settings.

	In discussing this problem with the system managers involved
and with the learning center, no solutions could be found. Maybe, some
one in here has a solution.

thanks

Roland

Is this something to do with WPSDEF.WPL? Maybe you need to copy that across
to your new system too? Just a guess, as ruler settings are stored in that
file.
