32.0. "PRR brings back empty attachments" by KERNEL::SMITHERSJ () Tue Feb 18 1992 12:46

If I am doing a PRR of an archive area and at the same time a user
does a RAD of a document in the same archive area being restored,
this unfortunately causes a few problems.

The user doing the RAD when I am doing the PRR will get back a
mail message saying the document has been restored, but when you
read it, the attachment is blank, and when you then try and read
the restored document in the original folder, you get an error
that the file does not exist. The document does point to a file,
but it is a newly created one not the old .wpl file.

The manager also gets an error after PRR has finished, saying
    "Error opening file disk$[archive1]user....

If I do a SRR there are none awaiting recovery.

To restore the document, you need to do a MAA to disk, and then
search on all of that user's documents which is very time consuming.

Obviously, I could do the retrieving in the evening when users
are not doing a RAD, but I would appreciate any help any of the
archive developers could give on this one.

I can reproduce the customer's problem on our 2.4 unpatched system.
I haven't tried it on the patched system because I didn't think they
    addressed this particular problem.

    Thanks
    julia

This may be fixed in V3.0, since the mechanism for restoring documents
has changed - it no longer uses mail functions.

This problem has not been reported before, and so there has been no fix
to specifically address this problem, and therefore no V2.4 patch.
