3725.0. "Window manager accvio!" by KERNEL::LOAT (Southern boys with Western smiles........) Wed Nov 28 1990 11:59
DECwrite/British 1.0 running on any node available, with the display
on a workstation which is running VMS 5.4. With this set-up the
window manager dies everytime you try either of these options.
Choosing the TABS option on the Type menu. The TABS box never appears,
and the window manager dies.
Using the quit option, when changes have been made, so the normal 'Do
you wish to save changes' box appears. This again kills the window
manager.
The DECwrite window is blanked out, and the pointer changes to the
watch, so it thinks that something is happening.
I tried to define the logical DECW$WINMGR_OUTPUT, but all this gave in
the output file was one line:
"Digital Equipment Corporation VMS Window Manager"
I used accounting to try to find out what happened to the window
manager, and the final text was
"%SYSTEM-E-ACCVIO, access violation, reason mask = !XB, "
then the text disappears. Has anyone seen this before, and how can
I get more information about the access violation?
Steve.
